Don’t make this big mistake with your health

Magnesium Deficiency and it’s consequences to you.  Your body is made up of trillions of cells.  Each one of these cells is responsible for charging complex systems that maintain homeostasis and keep you alive.  Your cells depend on the fuel they need to function so that you can enjoy optimal health and longevity. Unfortunately, our food sources have become contaminated by industrialized farming methods and over-processing, leaving our cells with inadequate fuel to function properly. Topsoil depletion of one essential mineral in particular has instigated a sweeping deficiency—and consequent health crisis—across the globe.  With soil depletion growing worse every year, and global health declining, it’s imperative to supplement with bioavailable vitamins and minerals to make up for nutrient-deficient foods. It’s not only soil depletion that exacerbates magnesium deficiency.  The Standard American Diet—notoriously high in sugar, salt, fat, and animal protein—accelerates magnesium loss.  It takes 287 molecules of magnesium to break down ...(Read More)

Taking Ownership of your Health and Wellness

Taking ownership of your health and wellness is a completely new paradigm because for decades in conventional medicine most of us growing up felt that if we had cancer or a life threatening disease befell us for some unknown reason, we would just go to the doctor and get it fixed by attacking it. If the cancer or  life threatening disease went away no one ever looked to see if there was a connection between their lifestyle and their disease. So this is really a whole new paradigm change.  We didn’t think about genetic modified foods because it wasn’t around. Genetic modified foods and pounds of sugar being put into our food supply  is a relatively new thing that took place after the industrial revolution. In the past we didn’t eat the huge amounts of sugar that are being added to our food supply today. We couldn’t eat that many ...(Read More)

Fitness Journey

Things that I have noticed in my fitness journey: 3 Reasons why the Preacher Curl creates imbalances. Reason #1: over-shortening or lengthening muscles that support your shoulder while lifting-weight. Reason #2: Only working one muscle and one joint, so the metabolic effect is very low. Reason #3: You’re training your muscles to be strong with a very forward shoulder and shortened pec position, creating a body imbalance. The posture you lift in is the posture you stay in. Creating muscle imbalances sets the stage for injuries.

Does young wheat grass contain gluten?

One of my clients that has been in my Health Coaching Program for 8 years voiced a concern over wheat grass juice being gluten free. So, I wanted to take a moment to share some light on the subject with all of my blog followers. Does Wheatgrass Contain Gluten? Some people become sick when they consume the elastic protein in wheat, barley and rye called gluten. Celiac disease causes a multitude of symptoms including gastrointestinal upset, rashes and brain fog, and can be linked to other diseases such as cancer, lupus and rheumatoid arthritis. Celiac sufferers must avoid all gluten for the rest of their lives. Wheatgrass grows from the seed of wheat, so it would seem like something celiacs should avoid. However, because it is a young version of the plant, the grass itself does not contain gluten. What Is Wheat Grass? Used primarily as a nutritional supplement, wheat ...(Read More)

Amazing systemic enzymes that we begin losing after age 20…

Systemic enzymes are amazing. In fact, you might call them extraordinary, since they provide systemic health benefits. For those of us starting a new health regimen for the New Year, that’s exceptionally good news. As review, enzymes are proteins catalyzing every bodily chemical action. There are over 3,000 bodily enzymes—most of them proteolytic, or protein-eating, enzymes—and fall into three kinds of enzymes: food, digestive and metabolic/systemic enzymes. Food enzymes come from foods, particularly raw foods with their enzymes intact, while digestive enzymes help to digest food. Metabolic/systemic enzymes—while they may have some enzymes in common with digestive enzymes—work differently, going beyond the stomach, into the bloodstream and cells to work their amazingly healthy outcomes. Some systemic enzymes with particularly beneficial health effects are the pancreatic enzymes included in an important systemic enzyme called pancreatin. Others include: papain, a protein-cleaving enzyme from papaya and other plants. bromelain, a protease enzyme derived from the ...(Read More)

Knowing what is in our food is a complex problem

The problem is more complex than blaming any one person. As a Health and Wellness Coach, I spend many hours every week researching the food we eat. Just this week I spent several hours getting through the gatekeepers of a company. I wanted to know for my clients what part of the Agave plant they used and what they used as a processing method. I knew that one part of the agave plant processed one way would yield a low GI of 30 and another part of the agave plant processed another way would produce a high GI of 70. One would cause high blood sugar, heart disease along with speeding up the aging process and the other would produce low blood sugar,  anti aging i.e. slowing down the aging process, and a more healthy lifestyle. Having a job, kids and family where does a parent find the time to ...(Read More)

Small Seeds with a Big Impact on your Health and Wellness

Small Seed, Big Impact The wonderful world of flax seed—by the numbers. A powerhouse food packed with health benefits. If you’ve not added flax seed to your diet, you will soon. First cultivated nearly 3,000 years ago, flax seed has been around a while. Back in the eighth century, King Charlemagne was so convinced of the goodness of flax seed he enforced laws that required the people of his land to eat it. Now, 1,300 years later, experts realize Charlemagne’s suspicions were spot on. Evidence has shown flax seed may help lower your risk of cancer, lung disease, stroke, heart disease, and diabetes. Recognition of these health benefits has lead to an increase in the amount of flax seed being added to foods such as oatmeal, crackers, and bread. You may want to add it to your food as well. 3 Ingredients What makes flax seed so great? Its reputation ...(Read More)

Are You Really Committed To Your Health and Wellness Plan?

Are you committed to your health and wellness plan? Those who momentarily want to be involved or want to just dabble with their metabolic health and wellness plan are often left disappointed. See, you and every single successful person you know are alike. You have access to information, and to resources that were once out of the reach of folks like you and me. And you have access to coaches, mentors, advisers, communities, forums, seminars, masterminds and workshops to guide you all the way to success. But even in the best of circumstances some people will stay where they are in life, never achieving the level of success they dreamed of, and in fact they’ll digress, get bitter and resentful of others because of their limiting self beliefs and ...(Read More)
