[dropcap]”[/dropcap]I have been an athlete all my life. Since working out with Glenn, I have seen great improvement in my core strength and balance. Lower back issues that have plagued me for 15 years are now non-existent. I understand more about my body with respect to nutrition. Glenn sees every person he works with as a unique individual with unique needs and his willingness to craft an individual fitness program for me. Glenn is one of the best discoveries and investments I have made for myself in recent years.
[dropcap]”[/dropcap]I started working with Glenn for my back pain. He taught me the correct stretches and strength exercises to help relieve my pain. Being consistent with my stretches and working with Glenn my back pain subsided. I then transitioned into Glenn’s coaching program where I have dropped from my beginning weight of 196 to my current weight of 170 lbs. I now look and feel better than ever! I even have energy for the family!
[dropcap]”[/dropcap]When I started working with Glenn, I was the heaviest I had been since giving birth to my daughters. My cholesterol was high for the first time in my life. At age 50, I thought I really needed to do something. In less than 4 months I lost 25 pounds (that’s 15 more than I thought possible). I am much stronger, with much more energy now. (I’m playing one of my favorite games volleyball and wally ball again after not playing for 4 years because of a shoulder injury that Glenn rehabbed for me). My cholesterol went from 234 to 167 (the nurse who registered it said she had never seen that before). My clothes size has gone down from 14s to 8s. Tops from large to small. I have tried gyms before with no results. Glenn sets up eating plans that are easy for me, and is constantly checking in with me by texting. My eating habits have changed and I feel so much better, more energy than I have had in along time. My other motivating point of going to Glenn was that I was planning two big events in the summer, one riding 180 miles on my bicycle across the state of Maine in three days for the American Lung Association’s Trek Across Maine. The other was I wanted to fulfill a lifelong dream of hiking the Appalachian Trail (114 miles of it through some of the toughest parts of the entire trail). Glenn is focused on my personal goals, and helps me achieve them. He personalizes workouts to the areas of my body that need them. I completed the 180 mile bike ride in June and found I was strong and energized throughout the ride. I have also just completed a life-long goal and just finished 119 mile hike on the Appalachian Trail in 10 days!!!
[dropcap]”[/dropcap]As I crept closer to 30, I noticed that the bloat and flab from weekend partying was much harder to get rid of. I felt groggy and tired all the time. Glenn asked me to keep a food diary for a week and quickly realized I was not eating enough lean protein nor getting enough iron. He gave me a few menu options until we found one that really clicked with my schedule, tastes and needs. Within a few weeks, my energy levels were back to normal. It was a good thing we spent the time getting my nutrition back on track, because that fall I became pregnant with my husband, and fellow client of Glenn’s, Bruce. It is a common concern when one is pregnant that it will be hard not to gain excessive weight and how hard it can be to get it off post-partum. Glenn assured me that if I continued my training and we monitored my diet, getting back into shape afterwards would be no problem. It is essential to maintain core strength and flexibility when pregnant. Glenn was always very aware of the changes and stages my body was going through and was careful to keep me in the comfort zone. I know it was because of my prenatal exercise that I had an easy delivery and quick recovery. Six weeks after delivery, I was back starting to rebuild my core strength. Glenn upped the ante week after week and within a few months, I was not only back in shape, but TEN pounds lower than I was pre-pregnancy. Now I am 35 and in the best shape of my life. My coaching sessions with Glenn are one of the highlights of my week. He is always changing the workouts so my body and mind are always challenged. Many women my age have flabby arms, weak midsections and avoid the beach. I wear short sundresses and bikinis all summer long and am proud of the hard work Glenn and I do together.
[dropcap]”[/dropcap]I was in, what I considered, very good shape. I was competing in triathlons, biking in fund raising events and running everything from 5Ks to 10 milers. I was happy training on my own but, I was feeling stuck. A friend told me about Glenn’s coaching program. I told Glenn about my limitations. How I broke my back in a motorcycle accident and suffered severe nerve damage in my left shoulder and arm. My range of motion was diminished making some exercises a impossible. Glenn was up to the challenge, he took the time to help me work around my limitations and showed me no mercy. I’m not stuck anymore. Glenn helped me push through the wall and taught me to train out of my comfort zone. The rate of improvement and recovery was awesome. Glenn’s advice on nutrition before an event was great. I would ride a century in one day and the next day‚ let’s do another. Glenn keeps it light and fun. Just be careful not to get too cocky and tell him to kick your butt. Trust me, he will. You get out of life what you put into it. I say the same for training.
Thank you Glenn!
[dropcap]”[/dropcap]I was happy to be able to go for a couple of long bike rides during my vacation week‚ about 20 miles or so with some decent hills. I never rode my bike at all last year, so losing the 25 lbs. made the difference! I can fit into lots of clothes that didn’t fit last year, but I also know how easy it is to fall right back into old habits, so looking forward to returning after my vacation!
